A bad run continued for a North Norfolk bus company when one of its vehicles broke down outside a school this morning.

The Sanders Coaches vehicle, which was carrying six passengers, stopped when it began to smoke as oil dripped on to its exhaust pipe.

Fire engines attended from Cromer and Sheringham and used granules to mop up the spillage, which happened outside Beeston Hall School on the Cromer to Sheringam coast road at 8.55am.

On Monday, a Sanders bus brought Cromer traffic to a halt when it broke down on Church Street.

And on Saturday, there were major headaches for motorists in Cromer at midday when first one Sanders double-decker broke down at the key junction of Church Street and Mount Street and then a second got wedged as it failed to negotiate a too-tight corner, at the junction of Cambridge Street and Mount Street, in a bid to bypass its out-of-action sister.

Charles Sanders, managing director of Sanders Coaches, used the North Norfolk News website to apologise for the inconvenience the firm's vehicles caused on Saturday.

In a comment added under the about the incident, Mr Sanders said: 'Unfortunately, with anything mechanical, problems and breakdowns do occur from time to time although this was a first for us in such a significant and key location.

'Fortunately our skilled engineers were able to fairly quickly attend to the problem.'
