An event held on Sunday April 9 Broadlands Residential Care Home in Oulton Broad saw members of the community, including Lowestoft mayor Nick Webb and Waveney MP Peter Aldous, gather to officially launch the competition.

During the event Lowestoft in Bloom chairman John Fryers outlined this year’s competition and theme - which is the twinning of the town with Plaisir in France.

It was also announced the competition committee had worked throughout the year to raise more than £2,500 for Lowestoft seafront to pay for hanging baskets from the South Pier to Kensington Gardens.

The afternoon concluded with tea and cakes provided by Broadlands Residential Care Home, followed by performances from a magician and a harpist.

Entry forms for this year’s competition can be collected from The Lowestoft Journal office at 147 London Road North.
