The latest proposals for the regeneration of Norwich's Anglia Square include increased parking and layout changes.
Developers Weston Homes and Columbia Threadneedle are once again exploring the need for an environmental impact assessment with Norwich City Council after making alterations to the scheme.
A similar application, made in March this year, revealed extensive plans for the Anglia Square site.
It included proposals for:
• A 25-storey tower block
• 1,350 new homes
• 15,000sqm of retail space, with space for a new cinema complex to replace the existing Hollywood Cinema.
• 500sqm of floor space for either a workshop or doctor's surgery.
But in the latest EIA screening application, Iceni Projects, on behalf of Weston Homes, said the scheme had changed and therefore needed an updated opinion from the council.
Developers have increased the number of spaces in the proposed multi-storey car park from 800 to 1,000.
They have also made alterations to where the various forms of accommodation will be located.
In the northeast section of the development, the number of proposed homes has been increased from 250 to 350.
Meanwhile, the northwestern section, which will be around seven storeys high, will now be made up of 50 dwellings, rather than 35.
On the western side, which will feature tower blocks ranging from five to 14 storeys, the number of dwellings has dropped from 500 to 250.
It is also on the western part of the development that a 25-storey tower has been proposed.
The overall site, which includes the vacant former office building Sovereign House, the condemned multi-storey car park fronting Edward Street, and Surrey Chapel Free Church, would be transformed in a bid to attract new shops and restaurants to the area.
The majority of the proposed homes would be one and two bed flats. But there is also scope for around 250 apartments to be given over to form a new hotel or student accommodation.
Iceni Projects, on behalf of Weston Homes, said Anglia Square had experienced 'physical and economic decline for several decades', despite its location and heritage.
