An all-American comedy is to take to the stage at Norwich's Maddermarket Theatre this week.

The Star Spangled Girl opens on Friday and runs until Saturday, January 30.

Written by Neil Simon, the play is set in 1960s San Francisco and tells the story of graduates Andy and Norman who are running their own political magazine from their apartment. All is well in their world, until Sophie, an ex-Olympian swimmer and all-round southern belle, moves in next door and chaos breaks out.

The comedy is being directed by Stash Kirkbride, one of the theatre's creative directors, who previously played Andy in a production of the show in London. He said watching The Star Spangled Girl was a great way to banish the winter blues.

Christopher Neal will play Norman, Nina Taylor will play Sophie, and James Ducker will play Andy in the Maddermarket production.

Tickets £8-£12. To book, call 01603 620917 or visit www.maddermarket.co.uk
