A popular runway run is set to move from south Norfolk to north Norfolk next month to help raise thousands of pounds for a lifesaving charity.

Individuals and businesses are being urged to sign up to the sixth East Anglian Air Ambulance runway run, which is one of the charity's biggest fundraising events.

The fundraiser, which has been held at Tibenham airfield, near Diss, since its inception, will be staged for the first time at Sculthorpe airfield, near Fakenham, on Sunday September 14.

Organisers are hoping that around 300 people will enter the event to run, jog or walk the 5k or 10k track. Dogs on leads and babies in buggies are also welcome.

They added that the former second world war airfield at Sculthorpe had more capacity to stage a bigger event.

Rod Wells, critical care paramedic for the air ambulance, who is a keen runner, said: 'The East Anglian Air Ambulance is a fantastic cause, I recently completed the London Marathon and it was such a brilliant challenge, so I would recommend the runway run to anyone.'

'If you have never run a race like this before there are simple programmes to get you up to running 5k in weeks and with a great cause like the EAAA what more motivation could you need?'

Registration opens at 9am ready for the race to begin at 10.30am with entertainment throughout the day including a funfair, local stalls and refreshments. The charity operates two air ambulances, which cost more than £7m a year to keep in the region's skies.

The entry fee is £10 for adults, £5 for concessions and free for under fives.
