A large scale emergency response took place after a man collapsed and broke his leg.

The emergency services were called just after 3.10pm on Tuesday afternoon to reports of a man who had fallen and was seriously injured.

Neighbours stood in the street and watched as six police vehicles, two fire engines, two ambulance crews and the air ambulance rushed to a home near to Mill Road in Southtown, Great Yarmouth.

It is believed the man fell in the bathroom and broke his leg and injured his chest.

The East Anglian Air Ambulance was also dispatched to provide stronger pain relief to the patient.

It landed near to Matalan in Southtown Road and the man was airlifted to the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital for further care.

A spokesman for the ambulance service said they despatched a rapid response vehicle, ambulance crew and an ambulance officer.
