Two shoppers came to the aid of a man suffering convulsions at the Tesco store in Dereham.

The air ambulance was called after a man in his 30s suffered convulsions at lunchtime on Good Friday.

In a discussion on social media, Selina-jade Goodrum said today that she had been in the “right place at the right time”.

She said on Twitter: “Fortunately I have my level 3 emergency first aid & also an off-duty nurse was helping.

“I’m glad I could help him to stay stable while waiting for the ambulance who were fantastic, I must say - shook my hand and thanked me when they arrived.”

Her friend on social media, Karl Newson added: “That’s great. Just proves the training came in handy. You helped him and them. So no wonder thay shook your hand. Well done to you both. Bet there are a lot of people thanking you both for saving his life. And in a shop full of people.”

As reported, the man fell in the store and banged his head.

A spokesman for the East of England Ambulance Service said: “We were called just before 12.38pm to a report of a patient who was having convulsions in Kingston Road, Dereham

“The East Anglian air ambulance was dispatched.

“They treated a man in his 30s who was suffering from a head injury. He was taken to the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital by road for further care. His current condition is unknown.”

Franz Sidney, who lives near the store, said: “The area was cordoned off and an air ambulance called. I took some photos of the valiant paramedics. “We are lucky to have such a good response in rural Norfolk.”
