A charity is on a mission to raise awareness of benefits for the elderly in a bid to beat poverty among the older generation.
Age UK Norfolk will be offering support and advice to people in the county aged over 65 on what they, along with carers, can claim.
The drive comes as Age UK Norfolk's annual statistics show that one in six people aged 65 or over in Norfolk suffer from low incomes, with older peoples' incomes being on average £59 a week lower than younger pensioners. Also, a fifth of those aged 75 and over are living below the poverty line.
In 2016/17, some 1,268 people were helped by Age UK Norfolk with total claims amounting to just over £4,133,339.60.
Through the January campaign, the charity will offer free, confidential advice about home safety, housing and care issues at an individual's preferred venue.
