Norfolk actress Zara Dawson, who was seen by millions of TV viewers last night in BBC1's hospital drama, Holby, has revealed she spent six days in tears rehearsing the role.

Zara, 23, who also starred in the hit TV series Down to Earth with Ricky Tomlinson, played a girl terminally ill with cancer.

She said: "It was very harrowing to play such a part and also very moving because my character, Rosie Pallister, dies at the end of the episode with her grief-stricken parents at her bedside."

Zara, whose parents, Peter and Sharon Dawson, live at King's Lynn, has regularly appeared on TV and stage since leaving theatre school.

For the next four months she will touring in Little Women, in which she plays of Jo and The Railway Children, in which she plays Roberta.
