A major road has been closed and a man was taken to hospital following a heavy goods vehicle overturning near Long Sutton.

The lorry was coming off a roundabout on the A17 heading towards Sutton Bridge when it overturned blocking the road and spilling its load of chicken manure into the opposite lane of traffic.

The driver, believed to be a man in his 50s, was taken to Boston Pilgrim Hospital where he was treated for facial and leg lacerations.

The incident occurred at about 3pm and was attended by fire crews from Lincolnshire and King’s Lynn as well as the Lincolnshire Police.

The road will remain closed until the load could be cleared up and the vehicle recovered.
