A man in his 20s has been taken to hospital after his car collided with the central reservation of the A11 in the early hours of Saturday morning.

At around 12.40am, police were called after a red Audi crashed into the central reservation close to the Mildenhall Fiveways roundabout.

The male driver of the vehicle, who is aged in his mid 20s, was taken to hospital, but is not understood to have suffered serious injuries in the collision.

The crash saw the northbound carriageway of the road closed for more than six hours, as Highways England engineers completed emergency repairs to the central reservation.

The northbound carriageway was closed between the A1065 at Barton Mills and the junction with the B1106, near Elvedon.

Traffic was diverted off the roundabout through Lakenham via the A1065 and B1106, before rejoining the A11 at the B1107 roundabout.

Motorists were advised to re-route or delay their journeys while repairs were carried out, while the southbound carriageway was unaffected by the incident.

All lanes of the carriageway re-opened shortly after 6.45am on Saturday morning.
