Megan Gallacher, a student at Thetford Grammar School, won top prize in the 2015 Isles of Scilly Photography Competition after a vote on the island's tourist website.

Her shot of the islands, titled 'Tropical Oasis', was taken from a small aircraft and received 516 votes.

She wins a two night break at the award-winning Sylina Guesthouse on St Mary's, and two return boat tickets on the Scillonian III.

Ms Gallacher has visited the island every year since she was six-years-old with her twin brother, parents and grandparents.

She said: 'My mum and her family have been coming to the Isles of Scilly since 1975, so it really is a family get away that means a lot to us.

'The reason why I love Scilly is that there is never a boring day whatever the weather and, each year, our holiday is different.

'It really feels like a different world. I can always count on Scilly for quality family time, a beautiful setting for photography, and fabulous local food and atmosphere.'

She added that her interest in photography goes back a long way.

'My interest for photography was sparked when I was very young. I've always taken photos, documenting events and snippets of my daily life.

'I am inspired by the concept of being able to photograph something the eye doesn't normally take notice of.

'I like capturing the details and transforming the ordinary to the extraordinary. I am really excited to have won this competition.'

David Jackson, Executive Director, Visit Isles of Scilly. said: 'This was our second Isles of Scilly Photography Competition and once again, the overall standard was really impressive.

'We're delighted that the competition creates a lot of excitement and enthusiasm from our visitors.'
