Poundland is set to open a sixth store in Norwich after acquiring the lease to the 99p Store in the Castle Mall shopping centre.
The budget store is to take over the unit currently occupied by the 99p Store which is set to close in a couple of weeks.
The current 99p store has 'closing down sale' signs on it at the moment. Many shelves are already empty.
A spokesperson for Castle Mall said: '99p Stores Ltd has been acquired by Poundland Group plc. We understand that the lease of this unit is being assigned to the new owners and that the premises will be rebranded.'
It will be the sixth Poundland store in Norwich with the company already having shops in Magdalen Street, Anglia Square, Riverside Retail Park and two on St Stephens Street.
Poundland acquired the 99p Stores last year in a deal rumoured to be worth £55m.
A spokesman for Poundland refused to confirm if the new store was opening.
