Organised by the town's carnival committee, the procession wound its way along a two-mile route, with vehicle owners travelling from as far afield as London, Leicester and Cambridge to take part.
Carnival events manager Graham Deans, who co-ordinated the parade with the help of fellow committee members and volunteers, said hundreds had turned out to watch, with more than two-and-a-half thousand expected to turn out to a people's parade on Sunday.

'We have had a brilliant day and I think the town traders have done well,' he added. 'We have had great weather, the parade has been a big success and we have even had some vehicles come on low loaders.'
