A former England rugby star who became a champion Norfolk farmer will share his story at an industry event later this month.
Tom Youngs will be the guest speaker for the Norfolk branch of the Institute of Agricultural Management (IAgrM) at its opening meeting of the 2024/5 season at Morley Business Centre, near Wymondham on October 29.
The former Leicester Tigers hooker, who played rugby for England alongside his brother Ben, returned full-time to the family farm near Aylsham after retiring from the sport two years ago.
Mr Youngs and his cousin George are now the fourth generation of their family to run Sankence Farm, which won this year's coveted Norfolk Farm Business Competition.
The family farms 1,900 acres, of which about 1,000 acres is owned and the rest is contracted.
It is predominantly arable, but there has also been significant investment in diversification and the family also keeps around 80 free-range pigs in the woodland, butchered locally and sold through farm shops and restaurants under the Youngs Farm Produce brand.
The meeting, starting from 7pm on October 29, is open to both members and non-members. To book a place visit www.iagrm.com/events/
