A teenager who came to Norwich with a 'wicked' knife in his trousers hid more than 100 wraps of Class A drugs in his underwear, a court has heard.
Abdirahman Mohamed, 19, was the back seat passenger in a Ford Fiesta car which was seen "in suspicious circumstances" just outside the city centre.
The car was followed by police onto Ber Street and later stopped on Boundary Road.
Norwich Crown Court heard Mohamed was found in the back of the car with a large knife, or machete, in the waist band of his trousers.
He was found to have a total of 118 wraps of heroin and cocaine following the stop on June 7 this year.
Mohamed, from East London, appeared at court on Monday having admitted two counts of possession with intent to supply class A drugs and possession of a bladed article.
The defendant, formerly of HMP Norwich, attended court via the link to be informed of the sentence after he became unwell during the previous hearing.
Previously the court heard Mohamed, who was just 18 at the time of the offences, was said to have got involved through naivety and immaturity and was remorseful.
Recorder John Bate-Williams said Mohamed had been found with a "wicked" bladed article while being involved in the supply of drugs as a result of which lives are "ruined".
But he took into account his pleas, his age as well as the fact he spent 146 days at Norwich Prison, or the equivalent of 20 weeks imprisonment, after having been arrested.
Recorder Bate-Williams imposed a total of 22 weeks detention in a Young Offenders Institution (YOI) suspended for 18 months.
Mohamed was also given 200 hours unpaid work, up to 30 days Rehabilitation Activity Requirement (RAR) a trail monitoring requirement for four months.
