A man stole a pink vibrator and a car from a Norfolk home after breaking into the property through a dog flap while the owners were away, a court has heard.

Michael Bloyce, 32, got into the property in Hoveton through a dog flap while the homeowners were on holiday in Scotland.

Norwich Crown Court heard car keys to the couple's Mini Cooper were taken as well as other items, including a pink vibrator and a silk nightie, in the burglary.

Gemma Noble, prosecuting, said while they were away the couple had taped up a dog flap which was found to have the tape removed when they returned.

They discovered items had been taken, including keys to their car.

The court heard that as the victim was on the phone to police the defendant approached and said he had been responsible for taking the car.

He was with his father who told them his son had been in the house and had “got in through the dog flap”.

Bloyce, of Brimbelow Road, Hoveton, appeared at court on Friday (March 17) having previously admitted burglary and taking the car without consent on March 20 last year.

He had also admitted a separate offence of using threatening words and behaviour in an incident in Sprowston on March 19 last year.

Bloyce was sentenced to 15 months and three weeks in custody which was suspended for two years.

He was also ordered to complete 25 days Rehabilitation Activity Requirement (RAR).

Andrew Oliver, mitigating, said the defendant’s drinking had been a factor in the offending and described the burglary as an "impulsive" act with "not a great deal of planning".

Bloyce was also made the subject of a three year restraining order prohibiting him from contacting the two victims of the public order offence directly or indirectly or from going to their address at Linacre Avenue, Sprowston.
