A pooch who started her life as a street dog in Hungary has found herself thousands of miles from home at a Norfolk rescue service.

Lorena, described as an "absolute sweetheart", came to PACT Animal Sanctuary after being brought to the UK via another rescue centre and is desperately looking for her happy home.

While unsure of her history, the animal sanctuary believes crossbreed Lorena may have come from an environment where she was attacked by another dog or felt she needed to protect herself.

Lorena's journey to PACT has not been easy.

After arriving in the UK, a rescue centre placed her in a foster home before she was taken by a lady who, after a few weeks, couldn't keep her.

The centre couldn't take her back and so the option was to find another charity or send her back to Hungary.

A spokeswoman from PACT said: "Lorena has been an absolute sweetheart with us and she is a very well-behaved dog.

"Her downfall is that she is dog reactive so she may have come from an environment where she was attacked by another dog or felt she needed to protect herself.

"But this is just a theory based on reasons why other dogs end up this way.

"This is something we are working on and any new owners would have to continue working with us as well so that she can learn to relax when other dogs are around.

"She is an absolute sweetheart who loves to play, especially ball. She loves her carers and will nuzzle in for a fuss."

Lorena would be happiest in an adult-only home with no other pets.

She will need routine, as her life has never had any - and with a bit of stability, she should thrive.
