The owner of a long-running DIY store hopes to secure the future of the business and save it from closure amid a challenging time for Norfolk's high streets.

Nuts 'n' Bolts has been providing its wide range of services from its Attleborough store for 23 years.

But with the current owners reaching retirement, the hunt is on to find a new person to take the helm and keep serving the local community from the Church Street location.

Owner David Reger said: "We have a great business with wonderful customers so we really hope someone will take it on and continue its success for future tears to come.

"We are getting towards retirement age so to avoid leaving it too late, we have put it up for sale and hope to find a buyer before it is too late and the only other option is to close."

The business is being offered as a leasehold for £125,000 through business specialists Evertt, Masson & Furby, which have described Nuts 'n' Bolts as a "mini version" of a national DIY chain that maintains a "great reputation" in the area.

The sale comes at a challenging period for high street businesses, with Attleborough suffering a number of recent closures, and Mr Reger fears this could continue unless more is done to support local businesses.

"We have lost so many businesses in Attleborough recently. If one of us fails, it is bad for everyone else and tends to mean more will follow.

"if people don't sue high street businesses, suddenly all will be gone which will be a huge shame.

"It's not just the products we sell but it is the personal connection and social aspect that small businesses like ourselves provide to customers."
