Drivers face a £100 fine if they do not pay to use a car park by a popular beach.

An automatic number plate camera has now been installed to monitor vehicles parking at Holme-next-the-Sea, near Hunstanton.

It comes after the golf club which owns the site was given the go-ahead to install the equipment by West Norfolk council in December.

Hunstanton Golf Club said in a planning statement: "The proposed installation of ticketing equipment would allow charges to be levied all year round on a more cost-effective basis."

Drivers now face paying £3 to park for two hours, £5 for four hours or £7 to park for a day.

Charges are lower than the nearby Hunstanton Clifftop car park, where drivers pay £2.20 for an hour, £4.20 for two hours, £6 for three hours £8 for a day.

Parking at Holme was previously controlled by a kiosk. But those who arrived when it was not open could park for free until the concession closed last summer.
