The biggest store on a town's high street could be converted into two smaller shops.

Troubled clothing chain M&Co is closing its branch in the High Street at Hunstanton.

It came after the Scottish-based retailer entered administration in for the second time in two years.

Now Suffolk-based agents Whymark and Moulton have applied to convert the ground floor of the store into two units.

It is not known whether any interest has been expressed in the building, which stretches from 8-16 High Street.

It housed the town's Woolworths from 1953 - 2008 and was briefly a Warehouse Clearance Shop before M&Co moved in and opened in 2010.

A new door will be built on the right-hand side of the frontage and internal alterations carried out if the planning application gets the go-ahead from West Norfolk council.
