Thousands of households in Norfolk will get a share of cold weather payments triggered by sustained subzero temperatures.

Postcodes in Norfolk from NR1 to NR35 are eligible to receive the £25 payment.

It comes as the region recorded its coldest January night for 10 years and yellow weather warnings were in place for freezing fog across the county.

Those eligible will receive the payment for each seven-day period of very cold weather and the scheme runs until March 31.

This is the second time the cold weather payments have been triggered this winter, with the first payments back in December.

People who may be eligible for cold weather payments are those who get pension credit, income support, income-based jobseeker's allowance, income-related employment, support allowance or universal credit and support for mortgage interest.

People do not need to claim - if you are eligible for the payment the money will be paid automatically.

Cold weather payments are not the same as winter fuel payments - which eligible people get towards their heating bills.
