Thieves are targetting catalytic converters with 10 stolen from the underside of vehicles in car parks in the space of 10 days.

Police have issued a warning to motorists following the incidents, which took place at various car parks near Norwich between Monday, November 7, and Thursday, November 17.

The latest theft happened at Costessey Park and Ride on November 17 between 6.30am and 6pm.

Other locations where vehicles have been targeted include Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital and the Triangle Car park at the University of East Anglia.

Police in Norfolk advise people to take the following steps to help prevent catalytic converter theft:

  • Park in well-lit areas and in view of CCTV if possible
  • Park with your exhaust close to a fence, wall or kerb
  • Have an anti-theft device fitted
  • Get your catalytic converter marked.
