An estate in Norwich will soon bloom into colour after spring bulbs are planted this weekend.

From 10am to 1pm on Saturday, October 20, King's Community Church, who lease the King's Venue, which is part of the Norman Centre, will be joined by the Mile Cross community to plant nearly 18,000 spring bulbs.

Earlier this week, youngsters at Mile Cross Primary started the season off by planting outside their school.

The initiative has been supported by local businesses, including Jamie Lotinga, who runs Kip McGrath, a tutoring service on Aylsham Road, and donated to the day, and B&Q, on the Mile Cross estate, which donated 4,000 bulbs.

Saturday's event will be directed by horticultural expert Phil Howard, and there will be flower-related craft, refreshments and a chance to pot a bulb to take home as a thank you.

Anyone attending should wear sturdy shoes and a spade or trowel if they have one. For more information contact 01603 419767.
