A hundred cakes have been baked to raise funds for a trio of charities in memory of a mum who died from breast cancer.

Claire Macpherson was 39 when she lost her two-year battle with the disease last year leaving behind two sons, Charlie and Josh, aged 13 and nine.

Friend Amanda Ellis suggested the 100 cake tea party to mark a year when Claire would have been 40 and her mum Lindsey celebrated her 60th.

Friends and family got baking and topped the 100 mark at an event held at Worstead village hall at the weekend.

The £530 proceeds will be split between three charities: Bipolar UK, Marie Curie Cancer Care and the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospitals breast cancer care fund.

Claire's mother Lindsey Macpherson, from Honing, said friends and family had already held a race night and panto in Claire's memory bringing the total raised to about £3,000.

Mrs Macpherson, who now cares for Claire's sons, baked dog-friendly cakes as her contribution.

She said the latest event had been 'a lovely way to get people together and keep Claire's memory alive.'

Future events were being planned, and would be shared via the In Claire's Spirit Facebook page.
