Visitors have the chance to go to a model village for just £1 today.

New for this season at Merrivale is an observation wheel, the second for the seafront and only matching the Pleasure Beach's wheel in looks.

The model village wheel, complete with little capsules is 12ft high, towering abover the other miniature structured. There is also a model of the X Factor stage, but not the judging panel!

As the model village grows, so some tiny attractions have to leave and go into storage, and this year it was the turn of the zoo, which had been in situ since the 1960s.

Visitors have the chance to see for themselves how the model village is evolving at a special preview day, Sunday from 10am to 4.15pm, and it will be only £1 entry per person.
