Two taken to hospital after crash which closed road for more than two hours

Two people were taken to hospital following a crash in Barnby, near Lowestoft.

The collision, which happened about 7pm on Thursday, May 24, involved two cars – a Ford Fiesta and a Vauxhall.

A Suffolk Fire and Rescue service spokesman said they were called to help free someone from a car following the crash on the A146.

A spokesman for Suffolk Police said: “Suffolk Police were called at 7pm last night to reports of a two vehicle road traffic collision at the A146 at Barnby.”

The road was shut until 9.45pm when it was reopened by police.

A spokesman for the East of England Ambulance Service said: “We were called to reports of a road traffic collision in Beccles Road, Barnby, yesterday at 6.54pm.

“Two ambulances and an ambulance officer attended the scene to treat two patients who were not seriously injured. Both patients were taken to James Paget Hospital for further treatment.”
