A man had to direct traffic in a busy town centre due to a signs mix-up.
Tony Smith-Howell decided to help out after witnessing traffic confusion due to the road closure and diversion signs in North Walsham this morning .
He said: "I had just finished painting a house, working outside, when I saw what was going on.
"Market Place and King's Arms Street were both closed, but the signs were directing traffic that way.
"The signs did not take into account the one-way system, and traffic was being directed into a big hole in the road."
"I had to start directing traffic because all the vehicles had to make a U-turn."
A crew from TMO Highways later arrived on site to fix the signs.
UK Power Networks was called to the site due to an underground cable fault. Their work should be completed by close of play tomorrow, a spokesman said.
