Here at Credo, helping people find the best finance deal for their car purchase remains our biggest activity. Although people can now do more research themselves than ever before, with more car models to choose from, cars on the forecourts with more technology and more finance options than ever before, it’s no wonder people need help.

But even we don’t get involved with as many car purchases as Ali Reda, from Dearborn, Michigan in America.

Who? Ali is a car salesman and he is poised to enter the Guinness Book of Records for selling the most cars in America in one year. Last year, he sold 1,582 cars, beating a 40-year-old record.

So what’s his secret? Is he a technology expert, with a photographic memory to recall the details of all current car models, and the ability to sell snow to the eskimos? No – just the opposite. Ali puts his success down to acting as an ‘adviser’ rather than as a salesman, treating his customers as friends with a problem that he can help with. He lives and works in a small community, where everyone knows each other and where doing a good job builds trust and repeat custom. His mantra is that zero pressure equals more sales in the long run.

Why does that resonate with me, and why do I like the story so much? Because, in this busy world, despite the fact people have more information at their fingertips than ever before, we believe the same as Ali – that people want help from no-pressure, impartial advice from someone they can trust. When I launched Credo in 2005, I chose the name because in Latin it means trust and belief. And they are the same principles we work to in 2018.

For some of our customers, we not only find the right finance to suit their circumstances from the extensive panel of lenders we work with, we also help them find the right car too. For others, knowing their finance is arranged and agreed at a great rate, before they go car-hunting, gives them added confidence to find a great deal.

So we may not have a hand in as many car sales as Ali this year, but we’d like to think our customers are equally happy. And, if you’re thinking of changing your car soon, we’d be delighted to see where we can help!
