A street has been shut off and nearby businesses warned after a building was declared unsafe on a central street.
Norwich Street in Fakenham was closed off at around 3.30pm on Wednesday, September 11. The previous Friday, some of the tenants of part of number nine Norwich Street say they were asked to leave their homes, after cracks on the interior and exterior grew. The building comprises shops with flat above.
Alex MacDonald, who lives in the building, said: "I've lived here for 12 years, and now we can only come back at our own risk, to feed our cats. All my stuff is in the building."
The road closure has been overseen by North Norfolk District Council, which said in a statement posted on its website: "Norwich Street, Fakenham is currently closed due a dangerous building on the road.
"We have closed this road for your safety and aim to have it re-opened by tomorrow.
"Sorry for any inconvenience caused and thank you for your understanding."
Businesses have been warned about the danger, but some have chosen to continue operating.
