Motorists are being warned to expect disruption as a road is closed for seven days as work begins to build new drains.

Alburgh Road at Hempnall will be closed from Monday (March 11) for seven days, subject to suitable weather conditions, for the essential drainage improvement works.

The work will involve installation of new gullies on the carriageway and new pipes across the road, with an outfall towards the existing ditch. Alburgh Road will be closed to traffic during construction work and a signed diversion route will be in place. Pedestrian access will be maintained during works.

Norfolk County Council which is carry out the £8,000 project has warned that driver may experience delays and are being advised to take alternative routes if possible.

Meanwhile North Green Road in the nearby South Norfolk village of North Green will also be closed from March 11-15 will work is carried out by BT. A diversion will be in place.
