Emergency services are on scene at Haughley, in Suffolk, after a person was hit by a train.

Fire crews from Needham Market, Stowmarket, Elmswell and Ixworth were called to Station Road at about 10pm on Tuesday night alongside offers from Suffolk Constabulary and British Transport Police.

According to Greater Anglia, a person has been hit by a train between Stowmarket and Bury St Edmunds.

Ambulance crews are on scene.

All trains have been stopped between the two stations, with services cancelled or delayed by up to 90 minutes.

Though the 11.56pm train from Stowmarket to Norwich is running on time, the 10.44pm train from Cambridge to Ipswich, which calls at Stowmarket, is severely delayed.

Disruption is expected to continue “until the end of the day”, Greater Anglia said.

It comes after earlier delays on the London to Norwich line caused by a signalling fault.
