Parts of the A140 are currently blocked due to snowdrifts.

The road is completely blocked between Pulham and Long Stratton due to a large snowdrift and there are reports of delays between Scole and Needham Market.

Inspector Jason Selvarajah tweeted: “A140 #Pulham is completely blocked in both directions due to snow drift. Please avoid area @SouthNorfPolice.”

There are also reports of a lorry stuck in the snow outside Long Stratton.

Earlier police warned people not to travel unless “in an emergency”.

Inspector Paul Rush, of Norfolk police, said: “Please just because it’s not snowing, it remains really challenging driving conditions. So please, expect the unexpected. There is drifting snow there is significant ice and at the minute we would urge people not to drive if they can avoid it. If you must drive, please, please drive to those conditions.”

A Norfolk police spokesman said there are reports of three to four feet snow drifts on many roads across the county.
