Norfolk and Norwich Rover Owners Club held its second charity rally at the Sandringham Estate in aid of the East Anglian Air Ambulance (EAAA).

Cars were parked along the vista behind the visitor centre, rather than the usual, more remote, event field, which made for a wonderful display and attracted much interest from the public.

The theme was prestige and sporting cars from the past and the club was joined on the day by members of the Mercedes-Benz, Porsche and MG clubs, together with a number of special entries, so there was an excellent selection with around 70 cars altogether.

This year, as well as the cars, the club was delighted to welcome Team Panhard, a group of volunteers who maintain and operate the 1899 Panhard Lavasar motor car owned by Norfolk County Museum Service and on display at Gressenhall Museum of Norfolk Life, near Dereham. The Panhard was a real crowd-pleaser, especially when visitors were offered a short ride around the rally field.

Prizes were awarded for the best car in each class with the winners a beautiful Rover P2 20 Sports Saloon, a Mercedes 220/8, a Porsche Carrera, a MGB Roadster and, from the other special entries, a restored Riley 1.5. Last year's were entered into a separate master class which was won by an MGB GT.

Leanne Tyers, air ambulance fund-raising officer, presented the prizes of an engraved glass and Norfolk and Norwich Rover Owners Club present a £1,202 cheque to the EAAA from generous donations from all who brought their cars.
