Pedestrian suffers serious injury after crash which closed A47

A pedestrian was taken to hospital with serious arm injuries after he was struck by a car in a crash which closed part of the A47 in Norfolk for more than three hours.

The crash happened close to Dereham, between the A1075 and B1147 junctions, at about 9.10pm on Tuesday night.

The man had been hit by a blue Audi A2 near to the junction with the B1147.

He was taken to the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital with serious arm injuries.

The car driver was not hurt.

Norfolk police tweeted that the Norwich-bound carriageway was closed following the crash.

Highways England tweeted at just before 1am on Wednesday that the road had re-opened following investigation and recovery work.
