A road has reopened on a busy interchange in King's Lynn although a further weekend closure is planned to complete repair works.

The A148 at the Saddlebow Interchange over the A47 has reopened following repair work of two damaged bridges.

The crossings were damaged when they were hit by a digger which was being carried on the back of a lorry.

The £3.1m work began on October 23 and is due to finish next month.

Officials expected the work, which included some overnight and weekend closures of the Lynn southern bypass between the Pullover and Hardwick roundabouts, would be completed by early April but delays caused by bad weather during the Beast from the East have postponed this until May.

Highways England spokesman Jack Tappin said while the A148 has reopened at the moment a further weekend closure is needed to complete the work.
