Trinny and Susannah taught women to dress for their shape and colour coordinate outfits while Gok encouraged ladies to love their bodies and embrace their assets – wobbly bits and all.

And now a new face from Norwich is spreading the fashion message and helping the public look on trend while keeping comfortable.

But Jim Chapman is not having to wrestle with bra fastenings and body shaping tights – he is helping to style the nation's men through his internet makeover show Pimp My Boyfriend, in which he helps turn hoody loving other halves into suited and booted fashion fans.

Jim's YouTube series has quickly become a much-viewed favourite but the dapper 24-year-old UEA graduate admitted he had never considered a career as a lifestyle guru, and things were in fact 'pretty miserable' before he discovered his on screen talents.

He said: 'I graduated from uni and didn't know what I was doing with my life.

'I did well and you expect to go out to an amazing job and the reality is you need something to earn money and end up doing something you don't enjoy for six months.'

It was after starring in one of his girlfriend's YouTube make-up tutorials – in which she turned him into Edward Cullen from blockbuster film franchise Twilight – that he decided to launch his own channel on the video-sharing website, discussing men's fashion and grooming.

'I did it as something to focus on other than my miserable job and it took off from there. People really liked,' he added.

Jim, who attended Old Buckenham High School and grew up in Wilby, and his lively videos were soon picked up by the production company behind Daily Mix, a YouTube channel that features tutorials from several lifestyle enthusiasts, and Pimp My Boyfriend was born.

He has now shot a clutch of the shows, in which girls nominate their significant others for a makeover, and says he has found his perfect career.

Jim said: 'Throughout the show the guys go through such a massive transformation and at the end they have really changed. They have got a completely different outlook.

'It's giving them a confidence boost and we have loads of fun doing it.

'I love it, I don't want to do anything else. I've found something I enjoy so I'm lucky.'

Through Pimp My Boyfriend Jim has adapted his personal YouTube channel and now discusses entertainment features and presents his original lifestyle advice, covering everything from plane etiquette to dealing with break-ups.

The psychology graduate said his dream job would be to land a spot on the X Factor but for now, as his online fan base continues to grow, he is focusing on his presenting.

Jim added: 'At first my family were really worried about it (pursuing a career through YouTube), my mum especially, because I was studying for my masters part time.

'But it got to the point where I was too busy and I had to stop doing YouTube or my masters.

'I stopped doing the masters, that was a bit hard as I thought 'is it the right thing to do?' But it definitely was.'
