Six gyms in Norwich you could join to get fit in 2017

Looking for some fitspiration in the New Year? Whether you want to tone up or shift a few unwanted winter pounds there's a gym to suit you. Whatever your budget, here's six Norwich gyms that will help you achieve your fitness goals in 2017.
1. The Gym
Norwich City: 6-8 London Street, NR2 1EA/Hall Road: Harford Place, NR4 6DP
There are two branches of The Gym in Norwich, one located in the heart of the city centre next to Jarrold (Norwich City) and the other next to Asda to the south of the city (Hall Road).
Both gyms are open 24 hours and operate on a no contract basis so are ideal if you're looking for flexibility. There is also free parking at both sites. When you join you're given a code which you enter on the keypad every time you visit.

With over 160 pieces of equipment and a large selection of free weights and resistance machines you will rarely need to queue.
Plus with your membership you get free classes, including fit spin, body conditioning and bootcamp and also receive three free personal training sessions when you join.

Price: Norwich City: £16.99/pm + £20 joining fee, Hall Road: £17.99/pm + £20 joining fee. Twin membership for both gyms: £18.99. No joining fee for students with valid NUS card.
2. Bannatyne Health Club and Spa
Northside Road, Thorpe St Andrew, Norwich NR7 0HT
Owned by Dragons' Den's Duncan Bannatyne, this state-of-the-art gym is located to the east side of the city and just off the southern bypass.
If you're looking for a full body MOT in the New Year this is the place to go with full access to their health club facilities with their inclusive membership which includes premium gym equipment, swimming pool, badminton, tennis and squash courts. You also get fitness evaluations when you join to help you achieve your goals.
They have recently had a £500,000 investment which has brought the latest functional training, including the Technogym Ominia 8, to the health club. Working in partnership with leading fitness brand Les Mills, classes include body pump, attack and combat.
The on-site spa also offers an extensive offering of treatments including manicures, spray tans, elemis facials and massages.
Full membership for use of health club anytime on any day: £42/pm + £20 joining fee. Off-peak Monday-Friday 9am-4.30pm: £36/pm + £20 joining fee.
University of East Anglia, Norwich Research Park, NR4 7TJ
Located at UEA, the Sportspark has become one of the biggest and most successful community sports facilities in the UK.
From track and field to fencing, climbing to combat sports the Sportspark caters for every sporting taste. Oh, and its café is very good too for a post-workout snack – make sure to try the sweet potato fries.
The gym, which was extended in 2014, includes over 125 cardiovascular and fixed weight machines alongside a range of free weights. Classes include indoor cycle, boxercise and aqua fit in the 50m pool.
The centrepiece of the park is the climbing wall and bouldering cave which offers 90 minutes of climbing for £4 to gym members. They have also launched a new six week family climbing course from January 2017. The park includes five squash courts, five football courts, 20 badminton courts and a martial arts studio.

4. 24/7 Fitness
Wherry Road, Riverside, NR1 1WX
24/7 fitness offers flexibility with 24 hours access and free parking in the Riverside Car Park.
A stone's throw from Norwich Train Station it's easy to pop it for a workout before heading home if you commute into the city for work.
They also offer a no contract gym membership so you aren't tied down to a yearly commitment.
The gym includes cardio equipment, weights and an onsite spin studio. Classes are free for members and include Kettlebell, Bowka and Legs, Bums and Tums (LBT).

5. Nuffield Health
Barrack St, Norwich NR3 1TS
Located on the bank of the River Wensum to the north-east of the city centre, Nuffield Health 'fitness and wellbeing gym' offers a comprehensive health programme for its members.
Gym members get a 12-point Health MOT when they join and access to personal trainers and a medical centre that offers a range of health assessments and physiotherapy.
The centre also has a dedicated spin studio, the latest gym equipment, swimming pool, sauna and steam room.
Classes include Human Race Running Club, Pilates and Zumba to suit both men and women of all ages and physical ability.
Fitness membership including free health MOT and personalised exercise programme: £51/pm. When you join you get the rest of that month for free.
6. Virgin Active
Drayton High Road, Hellesdon, Norwich, NR6 5DU
Virgin Active Norfolk can be found to the north-west of the city next to the Royal Norwich Golf Club and Holiday Inn Express.
The centre boasts the latest gym equipment including the technogym, woodway curve and wattbike (yes, they are as fancy as they sound). Classes include High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT), Group Cycle and Fitness Pilates.
If you hate the gym but love to swim this is certainly the place for you with three pools: indoor, outdoor and kids and a jam-packed timetable of swimming lessons.
Aspiring Andy Murrays are also catered for at the racquet club, with six indoor, five outdoor and four badminton courts.
