My words precisely Ian Clarke (EN, October 18).
I have inquired about attending a Speed Awareness course but it is not available as a preventative measure - great, so the only way I can access the course is by doing 36mph in a 30mph and hope to get caught!
MORE: Every driver should take the dreaded speed awareness course
Someone needs to wake up and realise that lives could be saved if this course was made compulsory for all drivers, or at the very least, allow drivers to do the course even if they were charged a fee, as I'm convinced the council are reluctant to roll it out to everyone because it could mean a drop in revenue; speeding offences would reduce and the council would lose out on all those £60 fines.
It feels like money versus safety to me, unless anyone can explain otherwise.
