One reader hopes that a UK company will be overseeing the work on the proposed £98m Yare bridge, providing work for British people.

While the proposed new bridge across the Yare would be welcome news for the construction industry, I do hope the firm will be British, employing UK workers, without an offshore parent company siphoning off the profits, disguised as 'interest payments' for the financing, into one of the many tax

havens so handy for concealing tax revenues, as was the case with the Australian company who built the M6 toll road.
