Around £2.7 million worth of property sold at auction yesterday with a Norwich Golden Triangle house in need of renovation selling for £700,000 - but the former Mermaid pub did not find a buyer.
Brown & Co's auction at the Assembly House in Norwich saw 15 out of 19 lots sold on the day, including one lot sold in the room immediately afterwards, so with a 79 per cent success rate.
Peter Hornor, auctioneer and chartered surveyor at Brown & Co, said: 'I see that we realised some £2.7million worth of property sales on the day. We were thrilled with the result of the sale of 1 Town Close Road in the prestigious Town Close Estate in Norwich which sold at £700,000, well in excess of the reserve, reminding us that properties in this area of Norwich tend to sell at a premium particularly when compared with other areas of the city - this property needs complete renovation.'
However, the former Mermaid pub, Hedenham, near Bungay, which in recent years has fallen on hard times, still needs a buyer.
