Plans for 24 new homes in a north Norfolk village with views of the nearby coastline are expected to get the go-ahead on Thursday.

Hillside Residential want to build six bungalows, a two-storey block of six flats and 12 houses on land west of Langham Road, Blakeney – part of an area of outstanding beauty.

Half of them would be 'affordable homes' to be made available to families on the current local homes waiting list.

The development would be of varying 'bespoke' designs in brick, flint, rendering, timber boarding and pantiles. There would be car ports or parking areas for all the homes.

Access to most of the new site would be from a new road off Langham Road, however a terrace of four properties would share a private drive.

Members of North Norfolk District Council's (NNDC) development committee – who previously deferred consideration of the scheme - are being recommended by planning officers to approve the plan.

Earlier, Blakeney Parish Council raised objections about three of the new homes having first-floor terraces which it said would affect the privacy of people living in Thistleton Court bungalows.

As a result the developers dropped the terraces from their plans, as well as lowering the height of some homes and making other alterations.
