A rare 60-year-old Norwich City programme has sold for £420 at auction, making it one of the most valuable of all Canaries programmes.

The programme for the Norfolk and Norwich Charities Cup match against Manchester United in 1954, which cost six old pennies new, sold for £70 more than expected at Graham Budd Auctions in London on Tuesday.

The game at Carrow Road on May 5, 1954, featured Tommy Taylor and Liam Whelan, two of the Manchester United players who were killed in the Munich Air Disaster four years later.

At the same auction, a single-sheet programme for a Lowestoft and Kirkley friendly match against Football League champions Aston Villa at Crown Meadow on February 28, 1898 sold for £280.

Villa won the match 6-0.
