A Downham Market family is opening the gardens of its historic property to the public for a charity garden fete.

Louisa Pratt is organising the event at Ryston Hall on May 3 to raise funds for The Haller Foundation, an organisation which helps support communities in East Africa.

She said: 'With my heritage being in farming, I decided it would be most appropriate to concentrate on Haller's investments into farming and their development of sustainable holdings in East Africa.'

The event will also raise funds for Ryston Church and will include visits to Kett's Oak, believed to be where rebels met before marching to London for Kett's Rebellion in 1549. Children's activities will also take place throughout the day.

The Ryston Hall garden fete is on Sunday, May 3 at Ryston Hall in Downham Market. Doors open from 11am to 5pm.
