They're the liquid assets that help keep Norfolk's thriving drinks industry afloat and they'll be under the spotlight during the EDP Norfolk Adnams Food and Drink Festival 2013.

Whether you prefer a cool pint of real ale, a tot of English Whisky, an alcohol-free juice or cordial, a glass of wine, a tankard of cider or fancy trying Norfolk's liquid gold – locally-grown and distilled saffron liqueur – there's a tipple to suit every taste bud and they're all produced right here in the county.

If you have a thirst for knowledge about the county's drink producers, there are plenty of events to wet your whistle during the EDP Norfolk Adnams Food and Drink Festival.

On August 30, head to the Maids Head Hotel before setting off for a special tour of the Winbirri Vineyard at Surlingham, including wine tasting. Then, back at the hotel, enjoy a three-course Norfolk wine and dine menu, where local ingredients will be paired with Winbirri wines.

Tickets for the event cost £60 and include the tour and the dinner. Book in advance, call 01603 209955 or visit www.maidsheadhotel.co.uk for more details.

Take the ale trail in Norwich and enjoy a locally-brewed pint (or half!) in one of six pubs participating in the Norwich City of Ale: visit all six pubs and you'll qualify for a free City of Ale lapel pin badge to prove your real ale allegiance.

The trail is taking place from September 5 to 8 and the pubs involved are The Adam and Eve in Bishopgate, Take 5 on Tombland, The Vine Tavern on Dove Street, The Lamb Inn in Orford Place, The Murderers on Timber Hill and the Trafford Arms on Grove Road. For more information, visit www.cityofale.org.uk.

As part of The Brecks Food and Drink Festival, there will be an International Flavours Barbecue at Swaffham Community Centre from 2pm to 6pm on September 15: taste a range of cuisines from the home countries of some of the town's diverse residents and join in with the Great Ginger Beer Experiment.

You can also make your very own traditional English drinks the old-fashioned way, with help from Swaffham Museum.

At The Library Restaurant in Guildhall Hill, Norwich, The Night of the Four Sins will celebrate four of the naughtiest – but nicest – treats in an evening which will include tasting sessions and a chance to meet local producers.

Cheese, chocolate, local ale and wine will all be showcased. Put the diet on hold. For more information, call 01603 666919 or visit www.rafflesrestaurants.co.uk.

After the recent David and Goliath battle between Red Bull and Norwich-based Redwell Brewery, the smaller of the two operations will be looking forward to something far less controversial: events the brewery is involved in for the Food Festival.

Redwell Brewery is teaming up with The Harbercue Smokehouse for two events – the Hot Sauce Blind-tasting Competition at the Playhouse Bar on September 1 and the Beer and Meat Extravaganza at Redwell's headquarters in Bracondale on September 21 which includes a full tour of the brewery followed by a trip to the bar for a tasting session.

The tour begins at 1pm and tickets cost £7, which includes a tasting and the Harbercue Smokehouse barbecue experience. For more details or to book tickets, call 01603 624072 or visit www.redwellbrewing.com.

At the Banningham Crown on September 26 and 27, the Norfolk Food, Beer and Cider Menu will be showcasing the best of the best from the county. Enjoy a three-course menu of Cromer crabs, Hevingham chicken and Groveland apples paired with ales and ciders produced in Norfolk.

You will also have the opportunity to meet the brewers. The menu is available from 6pm to 9pm and costs £21.50 per person, including ales and ciders. Book on 01263 733534 or visit www.banninghamcrown.co.uk for more details.

Reepham-based Panther Brewery is teaming up with The Bell Hotel to offer a fascinating tour of the brewery and a barbecue courtesy of South Fork Farm, which uses the waste malt from the brewing process to feed its rare breed animals.

Visitors will also be able to meet local food producers Candi's Chutneys, Bread Source and Bray's Cottage Pork Pies, who will be presenting ale-infused products. Free transport from outside Norwich Theatre Royal is available on a 1954 Bristol Bus. Tickets cost £10 per head, book on 01603 871163 and visit www.pantherbrewery.co.uk for more details.
