Acres of bedlinen have to be folded and processed in the laundry at the West Norwich Hospital in late 1978.
There was an alternative to wash-day blues for the citizens of East Anglia after 1878 when the first commercial laundry business was set up in the region.
At the industry's peak four laundries operated in the city alone and many dry cleaners were in business as well.
