Excited children in Earlham got the chance to put in their Christmas list orders with the man himself yesterday when Santa Claus dropped in for a flying visit.

Even for those a little too old for a trip into Santa's grotto, there was seasonal entertainment on offer with the Marlpit Community Choir boosting the Christmas spirit with some enthusiastic carol-singing and a prize draw for children and adults to win decorations and hampers of festive goodies.

Face painters turned angelic children into tigers, princesses and even a terrifying Shrek.

Other fun included make-your-own decoration craft sessions, Christmas games and other festive activities.

The event at West Earlham Community Centre was the fourth such day around the city organised by Norwich City Council housing officers, in partnership with council contractors, housing, tenant and community groups.
