Your wedding day is one of the biggest days of your life, you want it to be a memorable occasion but how far would you go to make it really stand out? Here's a look at some of the quirkiest venues across the county where you can tie the knot:
• The Tolhouse Gaol, Great Yarmouth
Built roughly 800 years ago, The Tolhouse has a unique history, being a former merchant's house and later a courthouse and prison. Throughout the years, the unique building has been home to pirates, robbers, murderers and those accused of practicing witchcraft and today tells the story of crime and punishment in Great Yarmouth. The centuries old prison cells are bound to provide the ideal space for those looking for something completely out of the ordinary and intimate for their wedding day.
• Thursford Collection
When you think of Thursford, your first thought may be of the attraction's annual Christmas Spectacular show and not of weddings, but their Garden Pavilion is fully licensed for civil weddings and makes for an enchanting venue. The space can hold up to 240 guests and is also ideal for wedding receptions, with a marquee boasting floor-to-ceiling views of the striking grounds which feature a rose gazebo, water fountain and beautiful flowers.
• Norwich Puppet Theatre
Take centre stage on your big day at Norwich Puppet Theatre, one of only two dedicated puppetry venues in the country. Housed within the Grade I listed church of St James Pockthorpe, the outside of the building screams 'wedding venue', while the inside, is anything but traditional. The converted theatre offers ceremonies in its main auditorium with seating for up to 150 people and is bound to make you and your partner feel like superstars on your big day.
