Latitude: Vaults begin the day on the iArena with Jessie Ware-like pop

It's probably not the best spot over the weekend but Vaults made it mostly work.

Kicking off day two on the tucked away iArena at Latitude the pop act made it a pleasing start.

A couple of minutes before they were due to play a call went out in the press tent - 'Vaults are playing, I hear they are really good'.

Heads raised from screens, a few of us went over for a look.

The group's soft approach drew comparisons to Jessie Ware. The blurb said they were a 'mysterious new band' but there was nothing unnerving about them.

With strings, a soothing vocal and lots of synth sounds the group were a Co-codamol away from making me fall to sleep (but in a good way).

For all their positives one thing that always nags when you see a group who don't hit all the boxes is song quality.

There's a fine line between music to relax to and sounds which become lodged in the background. Vaults were certainly close to slipping over that line but their class saved them.
