Horning Boat Show 2015 hailed a huge success

With visitors travelling from up to 200 miles away and arriving before the gates opened, the signs are that the Horning Boat Show is getting more popular every year.

The annual event, now in its third year, attracted thousands of people yesterday, with sunny weather, live music and more than 100 trade stalls drawing visitors to the Broads village of Horning.

'We timed it well with the weather,' said show organiser Roger Tomkins.

'To hear all the positive comments from both exhibitors and visitors was just great. You can't manipulate that kind of response. We are really pleased. The food court worked so well, the live music and singers were brilliant and there was a lot of networking taking place.

'One thing that's important for me in my first year as chairman was to have those attractions so it's not just for people looking to buy a boat, it's for everyone.'

The show was set over three sites around Horning, including the village's recreational area where the EDP had a stall. The whole show had the 'hustle and bustle' atmosphere of a busy marketplace, added Mr Tomkins.

As well as being a significant showcase for marine companies and an event on the village calender, the 2015 show launched the two-week Broads Outdoors Festival.

The event has become an important contributor to the tourism income from the festival, estimated to be worth 'several million pounds' by Bruce Hanson, the Broads Authority's head of tourism.
